About Frank Lazarus
My Story
Frank Lazarus was born and raised in West Philadelphia and attended Overbrook High School; after two years in the Army, he obtained his BA Degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
He was in the Financial Services and Life Insurance industry for fifty-three years before he retired at the end of 2021.
At the end of 2022, a friend told him about self-publishing. Frank had written a blog for twenty years, and unsuccessfully tried to write a novel 40 years ago. He now had the time to try again.
Using his experience and knowledge of the life insurance business, he set out to write a murder mystery based in his hometown of Philadelphia. Three months later, his first book, THE MURDER GAMBIT, was published. The Brown & McNeil Murder Mystery Series was born.
Frank had the writing bug now and dusted off that forty-year-old novel. Three months later, he published THE PHENOM, a story of a high school basketball in Philadelphia who is arrested for murder.
RECRUITING MURDER and APRIL FOOLS: THE CANDIDATE followed.
In between, Frank published his first creative non-fiction book, 103 FIRST DATES:MISMATCHDOTCOM, detailing his seven years of dating from 2006-2013.
Frank has three adult children and five grandchildren.
Frank and his partner Deb spend their time on Hilton Head Island and Philadelphia.
